Vocational Schools & Training
Vocational schools are private (for fee), post-secondary institutions that equip adults with the skills they need to perform a specific job. They are also called trade schools or career colleges.
In London, there are a number of vocational schools that may meet your educational requirements. Typical programs include dental hygienist, truck driver training, building trades technology, forklift certification, information technology, business administration, paralegal, hotel, restaurant and casino management, and police foundations. Programs change continually to meet industry needs.
Programs are usually very flexible to accommodate people who want to train for a new job while they continue to work. Most offer full-time evening courses as well as part-time studies. Students graduate in one to two years.
Programs provide the opportunity to get practical Canadian work experience through internships, job shadowing or co-op placements. Many vocational schools offer job placement assistance and financial aid.
Vocational schools are provincially approved and regulated, and maintain competitively high standards.
