Thames Valley District School Board
With a reputation for education, the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) is one of the largest public school boards in Ontario and serves more than 80,000 students. TVDSB includes 154 elementary and 30 secondary schools in urban, suburban and rural communities in London and Middlesex County. Children usually attend the school in their neighbourhood.
Although English is the predominant language spoken in London and Middlesex County, parents can choose to send their child to a school that offers French Immersion.
The French Immersion program develops and refines the ability to understand, speak, read and write the French language. The program also focuses on understanding and appreciating Canada's francophone heritage and French culture throughout the world. Students can enter the program in kindergarten and continue throughout high school.
Special education programs, services for students with special needs, and transportation (school bus) are available. All schools are equipped with audio-visual, computer and library resources that reflect today's high-tech society and need for information.
