Settlement Services
London and Middlesex County have a long history of providing excellent settlement services to newcomers. It's not always easy to find the services that you need. These organizations can help you when you first arrive:
London Cross Cultural Learner Centre (519) 432-1133
The Cross Cultural Learner Centre provides initial settlement services to all new immigrants and refugees who arrive in London and Middlesex County. Each year we help over 2,000 newcomers to Canada. We offer settlement counselling, English language testing, document translation, employment counselling, social support, advocacy and assistance in accessing local medical, educational and social services.
An important part of settling into a new community is meeting people who can help you learn more about your new home. The Host Program provides you with helpful links to the community through volunteers who have agreed to act as a host to newcomers. They will share a few hours every two weeks to help introduce you to fun ideas and activities, practice your English skills and provide the support and assistance you need to adjust to life in London and Middlesex County.
LUSO Community Services - Newcomer Settlement Program (519) 452-1466
This program provides assistance to newcomers who have been in Canada for five years or less. A Settlement Worker is available to assist newcomers and refugees with orientation, information, referrals and advocacy in areas such as: housing, health care, education, social assistance, legal system and immigration issues.
