find a place to live, get enrolled in our
public health system,
get a job, sign up for
English classes and find
child care or a
school in your neighbourhood.
Settling Into the Community will give you information about London and Middlesex County. Ontario Immigration has excellent advice and information. Your First Days in Ontario is a guide book with lots of helpful advice.
2. Get help now
Several organizations in London and Middlesex County offer help to newcomers when they arrive. Cross Cultural Learner Centre provides initial settlement services to all new immigrants and refugees, including help finding local medical, educational and social services.
LUSO
Community Services - Newcomer Settlement Program provides services to newcomers and refugees who have been in Canada for five years or less. They can help you find housing, health care, education, social assistance, legal and immigration services.

London and Middlesex County have many ethno-cultural groups. Several of these organizations offer special assistance to newcomers as well as provide social activities, events and opportunities to participate in specific cultural communities.
4. Sign up for the Job Search Workshop
The London Cross Cultural Learner Centre's
Job Search Workshop covers job search basics in three days. You'll learn about the Canadian job market, interview techniques, job search strategies and how to update your resume for Canadian employers.
