Featuring Cross Cultural Learner Centre
Featured Organization:

London Cross Cultural Learner Centre (CCLC)

For over 40 years, CCLC has been proud to provide assistance to newcomers who are new to London & surrounding area; to provide global education; and be instrumental in the development of political, social, and environment awareness. The Centre has grown over the years especially in the last four years therefore doubling its staff.

In 2006,

Jeremiah’s House, a reception center for government-sponsored refugees, opened its doors on the third at 505 Dundas Street.
In 2007,

a new partnership was formed with the Municipal, County, and local organizations to develop the Immigration Portal websites thereby providing newcomers and those working with newcomers with local resources and contact information.
In 2008,

another new partnership saw settlement services being offered in the Public Libraries while at CCLC, a new program, the Client Support Services for high needs refugees, was added.
In 2009,

under the directions of their new Executive Director, all programs increased their staffing resulting in additional programs, workshops, and outreach thus reaching more clients or offering more variety of services.
For 2010,

the Centre is working on a proposal with the School Boards to increase their range of services by providing settlement workers in the local public and catholic schools.

These are brief highlights of the vibrant growth the organization is experiencing and if you like to read in more detail what’s happening at the Centre,

The project’s launch is open to the public; keynote speaker will be Uzma Shakir; and 4 panellists to introduce who, why and what it is like to live in poverty.
