WIL
provides a full range of employment programs and services specifically designed
to meet the needs of immigrants and newcomers to our community.
At WIL, every client receives the personal support and attention of an
experienced and highly-trained employment counsellor - who listens to concerns,
identifies employment needs and assists individuals in overcoming potential
challenges and barriers to employment. Employment counsellors work with clients
to develop a ‘personal action plan’ designed to achieve individual employment
needs and career goals. Clients may also choose to participate in WIL’s popular
Employment Preparation programs,
Volunteer Work Placements or the
Mentorship for Newcomer Success program.
WIL is also the managing partner for the
Access Centre for Regulated Employment (ACRE) and
Skills
International. ACRE provides information and licensure application
assistance for newcomers seeking careers in Ontario's 35 regulated professions.
Clients requiring licensure in regulated professions are often referred to ACRE
to benefit from their specialized services as part of their personal action
plan. Skills International (skillsinternational.ca) is the only website of its
kind that matches pre-screened internationally trained individuals with
employers seeking their skills. All graduates of WIL’s Employment Preparation
programs are posted on Skills International.
If you are currently unemployed and seeking work, there is no fee to access
WIL’s programs and services. Contact WIL at 519.663.0774 or email
careerinformation@wil.ca to
schedule an appointment.

Balanced Reforms Planned for Canada’s Asylum System |
|
Legislation to improve Canada’s asylum system,
deliver quicker decisions on asylum claims and provide faster protection
to those in need was introduced March 30, 2010. This balanced reform
would both increase support for refugees in need of protection and
discourage many of the unfounded asylum claims that burden our system. |
